Tenth Essex Conference in Critical Political Theory

Theory in the Face of Global Challenges: Capitalism & Ecology, Community & Citizenship.

The Department of Government, in collaboration with the Centre for 
Theoretical Studies and the Doctoral Programme in Ideology and 
Discourse Analysis, is pleased to invite you to the Tenth Essex 
Conference in Critical Political Theory, to be held at the University 
of Essex between the 16th and 18th June 2010. The conference has 
achieved renown for the quality of the papers presented and the large 
number of International participants. Previous guest speakers have 
included Wendy Brown, Judith Squires, Quentin Skinner, Joan Copjec, 
James Tully, Fred Dallmayr, Bonnie Honig, David Owen, David Campbell, 
Simon Critchley, Michael Hardt, Ernesto Laclau, Chantall Mouffe, 
William E. Connolly and Jane Bennett, among others. The conference 
provides an important opportunity to engage with the contemporary 
challenges and possibilities of social and political theory and to 
exchange views on ongoing research. We welcome papers from young 
scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and postgraduates from a wide 
variety of backgrounds in the fields of social and political theory.
