Sexuality, Sexual Health and Sexual Rights
Deadline: 01/06/2010
Guest Editors: Dr. Barry D Adam, Dr. Eleanor Maticka-Tyndale
The Canadian Review of Sociology invites papers for a special issue on
Sexuality, Sexual Health and Sexual Rights to be published in 2011.
Sociology?s unique contribution to the understanding of sexuality and
sexual health is that it approaches both as social phenomena, rooted
within the structural and cultural frames of society rather than
merely asindividual experiences. With the aim of bringing together valuable
insights on sexual health and sexual rights, authors are invited to
submitpapers on topics such as:
· Intersectionalities between sexuality and race, gender,
ethnicity, class, age, disability, etc.
· Sexuality or sexual health and rights, place and space
· Sexual health and/or sexual rights as frameworks for holistic
approaches to sexual health
· Social forces related to the suppression and violation of
sexualrights and conversely the construction and institutionalization of sexual rights
· Limitations and viability of rights discourses in sexuality
· Factors influencing inequities in sexual health and sexual diversity
· Sexual fields, sexual scripting, embodiment and pleasure
· Sexual cultures, including queer, local, and cosmopolitan
· Intersections with policy, media, medicine, politics, education,
religion, and other social institutions
· Globalization, migration, and sexuality
All submissions will be subject to blind peer-review.
Instruction for authors and other details are available on the
Reviews website; http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/crs. Full instructions and
