Fellowships for Trans-Atlantic Summer Institute in European Studies
Deadline: 15/03/2010
"Gender and Immigrant Life in Europe and North America"
July 19 - July 30, 2010
The DAAD Center for German & European Studies at the University of Minnesota invites applications to the 10th Trans-Atlantic Summer Institute in European Studies (TASI). The Institute will bring together 12 German or other
European, and 12 North American advanced graduate students for an intensive
two-week seminar on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The 2010
topic is "Gender and Immigrant Life in Europe and North America." The 2010
multi-disciplinary faculty leaders are Donna Gabaccia (History; University
of Minnesota) and Mirjana Morokvasic-Muller (Sociology; CNRS, Paris). The
Institute offers a diverse mix of seminar discussions of key readings,
research presentations by guest faculty and fellows, and informal
discussions of fellows' research projects. We encourage applications from
young scholars who are eager to situate their own projects in an
interdisciplinary field of /gender and migration/ that draws from both the
social sciences and the humanities. All selected students will receive
fellowships.
