The Department of History hosts three public lectures on the problem of modernity in the history and historiography of (homo)sexuality in Europe by:
Dan Healey (Swansea University) – From Gulag to Moscow
Rudi Bleys (Independent scholar) – Difference, Identity & ‘Residual Matter’
Dagmar Herzog (City University of New York) – Making Sense of Modern Homophobia
Followed by a panel discussion moderated by George Chauncey (Yale University)
Organised by the Department of History of the University of Antwerp in collaboration with the Yale Research Initiative on the History of Sexualities as the prelude to a (closed) two-day workshop conference (19-20 March 2010).
