Tema Genus is a creative and dynamic unit with an international profile in interdisciplinary and thematic gender research and education. Gender Studies at Tema Genus spans a wide range of fields, for instance: feminist, queer, trans, postcolonial, race, posthuman, environmental, dis/ability, body, science and cultural studies. Tema Genus also directs collaborative international research centers such as the excellence center GEXcel international Collegium and the postgraduate research training consortium interGender, and hosts a pioneering PhD programme, an international Master’s programme in Gender Studies-Intersectionality and Change, and single subject courses at MA-as well as BA-level. Duties
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time. The announced position is connected to research in the broad area of sustainable cities. It is part of the project “Sustainability means inclusivity: engaging citizens in early stage smart city development”. The project focuses on how cities can be designed in more inclusive and sustainable ways, and how a technology oriented smart cities-approach can be combined with a focus on citizens and their shifting needs and conditions. Work tasks include fieldwork in Swedish as well as collaborations with an international research group. The announced position includes research and teaching within the focused area, in collaboration with colleagues at the unit for gender studies, as well as dissemination of research. The successful applicant is expected to have good collaboration skills and be a creative and constructive colleague in an interdisciplinary research environment. The successful applicant is expected to collaborate actively with other researchers at the unit and contribute to the research environment.

In terms of formal educational background, we welcome applicants from gender studies, science- and technology studies, anthropology, sociology, urban and regional planning, or equivalent. We also welcome applicants with experience of interdisciplinary studies. Documented scientific excellence in the field of gender studies is a requirement. Documented scientific excellence in working with qualitative methods is a requirement. Documented scientific excellence in studies of sustainable cities is especially merited.

Documented scientific excellence in one or several of the following areas of study are merited:

  • Feminist technoscience
  • Intersectional gender studies
  • Participatory design, especially Living Labs
  • Social/cultural geography
  • Ethnographic fieldwork
  • Urban and regional planning
This position requires the holder to have good knowledge of Swedish and English.

Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
