Prof. Annette Joseph-Gabriel is the author of « Reimagining Liberation: How Black Women Transformed Citizenship in the French Empire. »
Her book is a portrait of seven Black women, thinkers, activists and artists, who participated in transnational feminist and anticolonial mobilizations, and imagined multilayered citizenship in the French Empire, at the intersection of race, gender, class and multiple cultural affiliations.
