Call for contributions – Antwerp Queer Arts Festival
Antwerp Queer Arts Festival is a grassroots, volunteer run festival celebrating sexual and gender diversity. We program a wide variety of art forms at a mixture of mainstream and alternative art spaces all around the city of Antwerp, Belgium.
Combining artistic, activist and academic perspectives on sexuality and gender, the festival encourages and challenges society to fully embrace its endless diversity.
Antwerp Queer Arts Festival is looking for artistic, activist and academic contributions to our 2022 edition taking place in August. We welcome submissions exploring gender, sexuality, queer identities, non-binarity and counterculture. Your contribution can take many shapes: visual art, film, performance, literature, graphic design, photography, dance, music, lecture, sculpture, workshop, theater, street art… We aim for quality, diversity/representation, and queerness.
While we gladly receive submissions from around the world, we especially encourage queer artists and art students working in Belgium to send in their works. For young artists and/or artists at the beginning of their artistic journey we organize a queer lab. We work with a flat rate fee for artists participating at our expo. We find it important to use our resources first and foremost to cover travel expenses for participating artists so we can stimulate exchanges between artists, activists and queer communities. All other fees are to be negotiated. We look forward to receiving your contributions and welcoming you to the festival.
