Masculinities: A Journal of Culture and Society is now seeking contributions for its 13th issue, which is to be published in Spring 2020.
Masculinities is a peer-reviewed, bilingual journal published biannually by the Initiative for Critical Studies of Masculinities (ICSM), an independent initiative led by scholars based in Turkey. The first eleven issues of the journal are all available online at the link below:

Masculinities: A Journal of Culture and Society is now seeking contributions for its 13th issue, which will be published in Spring 2020. We are looking for articles and essays from every field of social sciences and humanities, which critically investigate men and masculinities. The submissions can be written either in English or Turkish. The relevant subjects for this issue include but not limited to the following:
- Role of men and masculinities in authoritarian political agendas, political organizations, policies, and political discourse
- Influences of hierarchical divisions along national/transnational, local/global, and Global North/Global South relating to men’s experiences and conceptions of masculinities.
- The strategies and practices of movements for gender equality in the current sociopolitical atmosphere
- The part masculinities play in the ongoing wars, ethnic and religious conflicts, local resistance movements, and collective visions for the future
- Militarization, military expenditures, peacekeeping operations of transnational organizations, and peace activism
- Sexualities, bodies, desires, pornography
- Intimacy, emotions, affects, subjectivities
- Neoliberal economic policies, structures of employment, sexual division of labour
- Fatherhood and men and masculinities in family relations
- Childhood and youth
- Sexual identities, ambiguity and fluidity in and queering of masculinities, performativity
- Influences of feminist and LGBTI+ movements on masculinity studies and their affinities
- Uses and usefulness of the current concepts of masculinity studies in the struggle against sexism and heterosexism
- Literature, Art, Sports, Media
- Masculinity studies and the hierarchies within the academia and the knowledge production processes
- Methods and methodologies in critical studies of men and masculinities
