Research Fellow: Global network coordinator for gender responsive resilience project

The UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (IRDR) is a cross-UCL Institute, which leads research, knowledge exchange and advanced teaching in the area of risk and disaster reduction (RDR). The IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster (CGD) is one of two research centres in IRDR. CGD aims to develop awareness of, and responsiveness to, gender for risks and disasters, through excellence in research and teaching.

The CGD has been successful in receiving a ‘UKRI Collective Fund’ award, called ‘Gender Responsive Resilience and Intersectionality in Policy and Practice (GRRIPP) – Networking Plus Partnering for Resilience’, which will be implemented in three regions, South Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). GRRIPP began on 1st November 2019 for 48 months.

The GRRIPP project aims to support the evolution of gender and intersectionality, resilience and sustainability for social transformation through establishing a new Network of Networks. We aim to support a stronger understanding of gender and intersectionality, and a much-improved ability to embed that understanding in policy and practice. GRRIPP includes a large commissioning budget to be spent in ODA countries within our three regions. The main purpose of this job is to oversee overall GRRIPP network management functions which involves overall management of the GRRIPP project, from development and strengthening of the GRRIPP network to supporting the Regional Partners to build the regional networks, and organizing and managing GRRIPP activities. We are seeking to appoint a Global Network Coordinator for GRRIPP, who will work with colleagues in the IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster on the GRRIPP project.

This full-time position is funded until October 2023. The post is immediately available.
