Trans Realities: The 6th Nordic Trans Studies Network Conference
Trans Realities: The 6th Nordic Trans Studies Network Conference
Trondheim, Norway, 11-13 September 2019
NTNU’s Humanities Faculty is pleased to announce it will be co-hosting a graduate series conference entitled, ‘Trans Realities: The 6th Nordic Trans Studies Network Conference’, to create space and opportunity for scholars, activists and community members to meet, discuss, and learn about trans lives and issues together. The conference intends to generate awareness about how our lives, bodies and feelings are shaped by gendered norms, expectations and roles – and how they are affected by the current political, social and environmental shifts and changes. Central to the conference are the questions, How can we survive, thrive and create collective forms of resistance through academia and activism? What does it mean to be trans in the Nordic region, and how could it be different?
This conference is a collaborative effort. It is primarily hosted and supported by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in Culture (at the University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim), and NTNU’s organisations GenderHub and the Decolonial Research Project. We are also supported by Litteraturhuset’s Literature for Inclusion initiative, as well as Trondheim Pride, which runs 6-15 September.
Guest speakers include Agnes Bolsø (Prof. of Gender Studies, NTNU), Wibke Straube (Senior Lecturer of Gender Studies, Uni of Karlstad), Libe García Zarranz (Assoc. Prof. of Literature, NTNU; TransLit Project), and Luca Dalen Espseth (advisor, Foreningen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold).
