Labour Solidarities and the Question of Anticolonial Struggle in Palestine
As part of the inter-university ‘Palestine Caravan’ lecture series on « Decolonizing Palestine: Conversations after the Unity Intifada’, organised by UGent in collaboration with VUB, ULB, UA and KULeuven, we kindly invite you for a panel discussion on « Labour Solidarities and the Question of Anticolonial Struggle » at Ghent University.
In the excellent company of Dr. Rafeef Ziadah (SOAS), Manal Shqair (Stop the Wall, PNFTU) and Koen Vanbrabandt (ABVV, Algemene Centrale) we will discuss the role of labour, strikes and unions as tools of resistance in the ongoing anticolonial struggle in Palestine. The conversation with be chaired by Fayrouz Yousfi (UGent).
The event will take place on 11 May, between 17.30 and 19.30, in Auditorium D, Campus UFO, Sint Pietersnieuwstraat 41, Ghent.

Rafeef Ziadah is Lecturer in Comparative Politics of the Middle East at SOAS, University of London.
Manal Shqair is working for Stop the Wall and the Palestinian New Federation of Trade Unions (PNFTU).
Koen Vanbrabandt is Advisor for De Algemene Centrale-ABVV, Chair European Trade Union Network for Justice in Palestine (ETUN) and member of the Midden-Oostenplatform 11.11.11
Fayrouz Yusfi is PhD candidate at the Middle East and North Africa Research Group of Ghent University, conducting research on women farmworkers’ resistance and shifting forms of labour activism in southern Morocco.
